Students are assessed throughout the year and in formative tests at the end of the academic year.
In the Senior School, we offer a choice of two programs:
Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) where students are prepared for the ICSE (Grade 10) and ISC (Grade 12) Examinations
and
International General Certificate of Secondary Examination – Cambridge, UK (IGCSE) for Grades IX & X. We will introduce the Cambridge A Level program for Grades 11 and 12 in 2025.
Indian School Certificate and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (CISCE):
We offer 15 subject options to ISC students. English Language and English Literature are mandatory subjects. Similarly, ICSE students have four mandatory subject areas, English (Literature and Language), History, Geography and Civics, Hindi and Mathematics. At Hopetown, we do not stream subjects for seniors. The girls are encouraged to choose from across the range of the Sciences, Humanities, the Arts and Commercial subjects. We see subject Projects as an opportunity to stimulate children intellectually with research, discussion and debate. Children are encouraged to explore many resources in their study and use technology with responsibility.
International General Certificate of Secondary Examination (Cambridge):
The IGCSE program was introduced to give senior students the opportunity of competing globally. We offer 17 subject options to IGCSE students which allows students flexibility of choice. This international curriculum aims towards independent research, critical thinking skills and deep subject knowledge – all of which prepares students to be “future ready” for a dynamically changing world.
The overall curriculum of the senior school focusses on student development and growth in areas such as leadership, citizenship, appreciation of the arts, public speaking, internationalism and health and safety.
Academic Assessment: The school year is divided into two semesters. Students are assessed throughout the year in the form of Formative assessments, Summative assessments and a Final Examination at the end of the academic year. Reports are generated at the end of the academic year with an overview of the three assessment areas individually.
