Campus

Seven bright, airy, cheerful and comfortable Residential Blocks house students of different age groups. There are 60 – 80 girls in each Block and 6 – 8 girls in a Dorm. Bathrooms and Dressing areas are attached to the Dorms.

Life in the residences is busy with activity and fun. Each Residential Block is in the charge of a House Mistress and an Assistant House Mistress.

There is a well equipped Infirmary on the premises with a qualified lady doctor

Our Houses

The Houses provide for positive competition in a number of sporting and cultural activities. Throughout the year, students receive points which contribute to the Cock House Trophy. The Houses provide a feeling of identity as well as a wonderful sense of camaraderie generated throughout the school.

SYMBOLISM: The Pegasus, a beautiful flying horse, is known for its speed, independence and freedom. It is represented as a gentle creature, always eager to help. Emerald House strives to imbibe these qualities.

Every Emerald House girl makes a conscious effort to reflect the attributes of the House mascot. She aspires to fly high and soar to greater heights to be amidst the stars. Inspired by TARA’s zeal and humbleness, Emerald House aims at outshining the world.

SYMBOLISM: The eagle represents strength, wisdom, illuminated spirit, fierce pride, beauty and grace. It instills in us the spirit to strive harder without fearing the outcomes and the challenges. The eagle exhibits boldness, power and courage. The vision of the eagle, just like the girls who bleed blue, reaches far, flying above everyone else, never surrendering. The eagle flies at high altitude to reach the mountain peak where it sheds its feathers for better wings that glide more gracefully and it breaks its beak for stronger ones. The eagle inspires us to be high flyers.

Ruby

MOTTO: Enthusiasm and Strength

DISTINCTIVE FEATURES: Resilience and Fiery Enthusiasm

SYMBOLISM: Ziya – The Phoenix embodies the principal attributes of the members of Ruby House: Valour, Enthusiasm and Strength.

The Greek mythological bird, the Phoenix, represents Ruby House. It symbolizes the resilience and magnificence in every Rubian.

We take pride in our achievements and solidarity. If our fire does start to dwindle, we rise from the ashes and reignite that fire. Ruby House, following the traits of its mascot, never escapes a situation – no matter how tough it is. Its immortality lies in its strength, patience and survival. Rubians are like the rising sun illuminating the sky with its radiance and shimmer. In the words of Feng Shui Master L.K. Chuen, “…the phoenix flies far ahead in the front, always scanning the landscape and distant space. It represents our capacity for vision, about our environment and the events unfolding within it.”

SYMBOLISM: The Snow Leopard symbolizes confidence. The road may be rough and the climb may be more challenging than we thought, but by trusting in our abilities we can conquer it all!

The Snow Leopard teaches us not to hide behind our shortcomings and imperfections because we have the power to accomplish all the things that we dream of. It also teaches us to focus on the moment and let go of what holds us back in the past. The only way forward is to make the most of every opportunity.

The snowflakes symbolize serenity, peace and tranquility. Because no two snowflakes are the same, they also represent individuality, and their perfect geometric patterns represent perfection.

Diamond House girls endeavour to excel in all the fields by tapping the right opportunity through hard work and perseverance.

‘Hopetown Loves to Eat’. The survey results created a lot of excitement because food is central to the life of a boarder and almost touches an emotional chord within them. In the Indian segment, ‘rajma rice’ and ‘zeera aloo’ were given a unanimous thumbs up as being an all time favourite.

Academics

Hopetown Girls’ School is affiliated to the CISCE Board and offers the ICSE and ISC curriculum to its Board students. The number of subjects on offer is varied and caters to the interests of girls looking for careers in modern India. These range from the traditional Humanities, Sciences and Commerce to the Arts and Physical Education. Middle School students, Grades VI to VIII, follow a carefully designed curriculum, which creates a firm foundation for the ICSE and IGSCE. However, the curriculum ensures that students are engaged in experiential learning, which is learning for life. Students receive formal education in Drama, Music, Art & Craft, Life Skills, Languages, IT, General Knowledge and Physical Education. These additional subjects develop students in areas of Personality, Ethics and Citizenship.

The Arts

Hopetown Girls’ School offers a range of activities to its students to help them develop their skills in areas that they already know and to experiment with those that they are interested in. The school prides itself in its varied Performing Arts options which include Hindustani and Western Music, Indian and Western Dance Forms and Drama.

All Middle School students learn one dance form and one music instrument. Drama is a part of the overall curriculum and students may opt to work towards a qualification in Acting and Public Speaking from the Trinity Guildhall’s Open Program.

Athletics

Outdoor activities ranging from walks in the neighbourhood forests and fields, to well-organised treks into the Himalayas, are planned during the school year to enable the girls experience life outdoors.

Sprawling fields on the campus have enabled the school to offer a range of sports. Hopetown excels at Athletics, Football, Basketball, Swimming and Karate.
